The Rockwell Collins digital audio/video cabin management system (CMS), part of our Airshow 21 solution, applies proven technology and advanced connectivity capabilities to provide you with a robust standard in information, entertainment and environmental control systems. The backbone of the digital audio/video CMS is a high-speed, IEEE 1394a, data network operating at 400 Mbps. Since the audio and video signals need guaranteed delivery without interruption, they are carried over the IEEE 1394a isochronous channels. The system configures in a simple ring topology that eases installation and reduces system weight (i.e., long, bulky cable runs). In addition, the ring topology uses common wiring and digital interface box bypass connectors that enable installation of the backbone wiring in production aircraft independent of the specific aircraft configuration.
